Is it vacation time? Have you start planning to take a trip this summer? Whether you flying from coast to coast, international, driving to a nearby city with a beach, or cruising the seas, it’s time for U to enjoy this summer. At the beginning of the year, I always plan a economic 3 day, 4 night weekend trip in May or June to relax, read, and sit on the beach the entire time. (i.e. Cancun, Bahamas) No sightseeing tours, no phone, and no work. It’s a way for me to think, mediate, refocus, and distress from the 1st part of the new year. Also, I try to plan a week long vacation out the country whether by boat or plane in July/August to a new destination. Research is key, so try to locate a GREAT travel agent. They do all the guess work and conduct research, schedule tours, transportation, and setup payment arrangements. Periodically, I may use the travel search engines for the last minute trips but if I can plan it out, I call my travel agent. Usually the same price and more perks!
1.) Find a Travel Agent
With all my upcoming trips, the biggest question I have is “WHAT TO TAKE”? I am a plus size curvy women size 14 with a edgy style, but I feel a little too old to wear all my skin out as if I was 18 years old. So, I been looking through my closets, trying on last year spring/summer clothes to determine if it still fit or dated. Nevertheless, whether I purchase new or repeat from last year. I am still in odds with “WHAT TO TAKE”? For the beach we all know, swimsuits, sundresses, cover-ups, and flip flops. But I am a moody dresser, I may love it today and don’t want to look at it tomorrow. So, I had to come up with a plan for my trip to Cancun this past week. Less is more when packing. I had one suitcase and my purse. I packed 4 sundresses, 3 bathing suits, 1 shirt, 1 pair of shorts, 4 pairs of sandals, beach towel, collapsable beach bag, toiletries, and undergarments. All done! My luggage was light and I had everything I needed.I felt great! Less fuss and more practical.
2.) Pack light, but practical
Lastly, enjoy your trip! Don’t let things you cannot change destroy your mood. Whether the airport temporarily lost your luggage, hotel room not ideal, or someone was rude/unpleasant, don’t let it affect your trip. As adults, we have to learn how to pick our battles and not let other events affect our mental state. The main purpose of a vacation is “serenity” not “dismay”. My grandma use to state “When you run out of options, that’s when you worry”, but as long as you got them you can survive. Makes perfect sense. Enjoy yourself and your vacation, you deserve it.
3.) Really enjoy your trip!
MOMENT TO SHARE: I just returned from a 3 night- 4 day weekend in Cancun, Mexico with one of my dearest friends staying at the Presidente Intercontinental Cancún Resort. It was an awesome trip with a calming beachfront, plenty sun, and laughs. I feel if you work ALL the time, even if money is an issue to see other parts of the world, locate happiness at a neighboring city or beach. Remember, life is what you enjoy while you living it. #GLAMCURVY
