GC’s Top 5 Plus Size Shopping Sites for Fall Fashion

Hi Everyone- I am sorry GlamCurvy have been AWOL for the last few months. Life took place and new projects came my way I had to entertain. But anyway, I miss you all and still been following the plus size fashion industry. So much have transitioned in the plus size world since the summer. 1.) Increased media visibility to the plus size industry 2.) More leading designers offering collections sizes 16 and up.  3.) The variation of styles have evolved with similarity to the skinnys now. Well I am being honest. LOL.  We still have along way to go but I can see change and hoping it continues to represent us well.

With my time away, I started searching for who have the hottest looks that fit my style for fall fashion. Classy Trendy. I identified my favorite 5 shopping sites that I purchase from frequently. Drum roll please!!!!!

1. Boohoo Plus & Curvy Clothing My favorite right now. So many cute styles to select from and the pricing is perfect for my budget.

2. City Chic Plus Size Clothing – In love. Fabulous luxe looks with affordable prices.

3. Deb Shops  Who knew?  The Deb brand have been around since I was a kid in VA.  I haven’t seen an physical storefront in years. However, it was my favorite place to shop in my teenage years. And today, they still offer classy trendy looks I love. Great shoes, too!

4. Forever 21 – Plus Size Clothing – My backup. Affordable prices of jeans, tops, and they also have great online specials. The only thing is if you buy online they only offer a credit if you return it to the store. Bummer! But usually its okay.. I can find something to purchase in replace of my credit.

5.  Eloquii – Truth Serum. Just added to my bookmarks.  I was not a big fan of the Eloquii brand at first. I thought it was pretty standard and aligned more with Lane Bryant and Ashley Stewart typical looks. But over time I explored it more and came across a few looks I do love. Now it is a little pricey and sizes go fast but shop the sales. That’s the only time I peek…. and buy!

Happy Fall!

Curvy Words Magic

Due to LIFE, it’s been sometime since my last post but I saw a few curvy sayings that I used as affirmations while living curvy. With spring/summer approaching, I need a little pep to stay positive with life perception of what “CUTE” means in our society.  I hope these curvy words is a inspiration to someone because they were magic to my thoughts.

Workout Cuter than the Skinnies

I am 5’7 and wear a size 14/16 and I can feel the extra weight around my waist, thighs, and boobs as I get older.  I don’t want to be skinny but just healthier. About 7 years ago, I lost about 50lbs and gain back about 20 lbs overtime.  Ideally, losing 15-20 lbs would be awesome right now but I HATE working out. Now I do walk my dog everyday which gives me about 30 mins of a lite walk but no heart beat increase. It probably just help me maintain my weigh enough to slow down the rapid weight gain.  This spring, my goal is to carry my “lazy” butt to the park at least 3 times a week and walk for 30-45 minutes briskly to start this healthy process and have a little less wine and sugar, too! WALK off the weight that’s my GOAL.

Well we know the”skinnies”is taking over the gyms, parks, and streets with their committed energy, petite bodies, and fancy workout gear.  Right now, committing myself to their energy levels or desiring those petite bodies is not in my thought process. But the workout gear.. WE can SLAY it! Check out these fancy affordable threads to “workout cuter than the skinnies”….

BYE BYE BODYCON DRESSES!

Is the summer over yet?

I am so excited and been checking out the plus size fashion industry collections for Fall. However, one of the biggest observations I found is when it comes to wearing fabulous dresses they either too short, too clingy, or too bare. Hello World! Not every body type or woman wants to wear a “BODYCON” dress and have to layer with undergarments or outerwear to camouflage imperfections.

So….  I went online window shopping to find a dress for ladies night out, date night, and/or afterwork cocktails with colleagues. Whatever the occasion is I discovered a few alternatives that may be flattering on any body type and the style feels sexy/grown. I don’t want to wear teen dresses in my 30’s, trying to compete with the younger generation. But on the other hand, looking 60 is not an option either. Check out GC’s three versatile dress picks under a $100 that may eliminate the extra add-ons that inhibits us from really enjoying our fab haute looks…..

GC’s Top 10 Shady Eyez for the Summer

Not sure if you noticed, but our famous fashion and eyewear designers came back with an vengeance showcasing the shadiest eyez for 2015 spring and summer.  Sure, I am excited about the influx of new curvy fashion, trendy sandals, fancy handbags, and bold jewels, but the collection of designer sunglasses have a genre of there own. I think when you step out on a hot summer day, showcasing a pair of unique sunglasses it increases attention and conversation. Sunglasses is like a bow to a present, it will complete your fashion look with a uniformed presentation and include the question “WHO IS THAT?” instead of “WHAT IS THAT?”.

Whether you spend $1 or $500 on a pair of fancy sunglasses, make sure the style/frame is a great fit for your face, be bold, try a new color outside of the normal black or brown, and own it! You fierce enough!

A Curvy Girl Travel Tips

Is it vacation time? Have you start planning to take a trip this summer? Whether you flying from coast to coast, international, driving to a nearby city with a beach, or cruising the seas, it’s time for U to enjoy this summer. At the beginning of the year, I always plan a economic 3 day, 4 night weekend trip in May or June to relax, read, and sit on the beach the entire time. (i.e. Cancun, Bahamas) No sightseeing tours, no phone, and no work. It’s a way for me to think, mediate, refocus, and distress from the 1st part of the new year. Also, I try to plan a week long vacation out the country whether by boat or plane in July/August to a new destination. Research is key, so try to locate a GREAT travel agent. They do all the guess work and conduct research, schedule tours, transportation, and setup payment arrangements. Periodically, I may use the travel search engines for the last minute trips but if I can plan it out, I call my travel agent. Usually the same price and more perks!

1.) Find a Travel Agent

Departure Style Information Board - TRAVEL

With all my upcoming trips, the biggest question I have is “WHAT TO TAKE”? I am a plus size curvy women size 14 with a edgy style, but I feel a little too old to wear all my skin out as if I was 18 years old. So, I been looking through my closets, trying on last year spring/summer clothes to determine if it still fit or dated. Nevertheless, whether I purchase new or repeat from last year. I am still in odds with “WHAT TO TAKE”? For the beach we all know, swimsuits, sundresses, cover-ups, and flip flops. But I am a moody dresser, I may love it today and don’t want to look at it tomorrow. So, I had to come up with a plan for my trip to Cancun this past week. Less is more when packing. I had one suitcase and my purse. I packed  4 sundresses, 3 bathing suits, 1 shirt, 1 pair of shorts, 4 pairs of sandals, beach towel, collapsable beach bag, toiletries, and undergarments. All done! My luggage was light and I had everything I needed.I felt great! Less fuss and more practical.

2.) Pack light, but practical

Screen Shot 2015-05-19 at 5.39.55 PM

Lastly, enjoy your trip! Don’t let things you cannot change destroy your mood. Whether the airport temporarily lost your luggage, hotel room not ideal,  or someone was rude/unpleasant, don’t let it affect your trip. As adults, we have to learn how to pick our battles and not let other events affect our mental state. The main purpose of a vacation is “serenity” not “dismay”. My grandma use to state “When you run out of options, that’s when you worry”, but as long as you got them you can survive. Makes perfect sense. Enjoy yourself and your vacation, you deserve it.

3.) Really enjoy your trip!

MOMENT TO SHARE: I just returned from a 3 night- 4 day weekend in Cancun, Mexico with one of my dearest friends staying at the Presidente Intercontinental Cancún Resort. It was an awesome trip with a calming beachfront, plenty sun, and laughs. I feel if you work ALL the time, even if money is an issue to see other parts of the world, locate happiness at a neighboring city or beach. Remember, life is what you enjoy while you living it. #GLAMCURVY

Every week, I would read post from bloggers listing the newest/hottest  “plus size shopping sites” and I am too excited.  Today, I would like to highlight a few saved under my favorites that offers a little something out of the norm.
